Television Advertising (New York)
A.J.’s diverse career began in the New York television advertising business, working on major national accounts like Nissan Auto and Miller Brewing at the William Esty Company. He later transitioned into sales management at Major Market Television and Blair Television. As a New York Sales Manager, he successfully managed over $50 million in annual broadcast billing.
Health and Fitness Entrepreneurship (Florida)
In 1995, A.J. relocated to Fort Lauderdale and founded South Florida Health and Fitness, the parent company for a chain of South Florida GOLD’S GYM franchises. As Vice President and Managing Partner, he drove long-term growth planning, marketing, sales strategies, and investment capital procurement, expanding the business to four locations by 2005.
During this time, he served eight years on the Gold’s Gym South Florida Ad Alliance, managing campaigns for 26 regional franchisees, and spent two years on the Gold’s Gym National Advertising Committee, helping shape corporate marketing campaigns for more than 500 U.S. locations.
In 2006, A.J. sold his Gold’s Gym interests and transitioned a location to the YOUFIT Health Club franchise model. This move allowed him the freedom to deeply pursue his passion for writing. He fully exited the health club industry in 2014 as his screenwriting began garnering serious industry attention.
